Physical copy of a valid California Sport fishing license (annual or one-day), food, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), layered clothing, any medications (including sea sickness meds), any alcoholic beverages you may want and a camera. Ice, water, sodas and all fishing gear are provided.
No. California Department of Fish and Wildlife requires a physical copy to be on your person. If you do not bring this, we cannot fish.
Anyone wishing to fish over the age of 16 must always have a valid physical copy of a California Sport Fishing on their person.
Yes. We do not provide any alcohol, so you may bring your own.
We love introducing young anglers to the world of sport fishing! There is no age limit, but keep in mind that a body (no matter how young) counts for the total number of allowed customers on the boat. Our captain is responsible for the boat and everyone aboard, but he is not a babysitter. If you are planning on bringing children, make sure to have enough adults to manage the children in your group.
Captain Martin will ask if you would like to keep your catch. If you do not want to keep the fish, catch and release is a great experience. If you would like to keep your catch, Captain Martin will fillet up your fish per current regulations and send it home with you.
We will be checking in with you shortly before your trip to confirm with you. We will pick you up either at the Green Pleasure Pier or Float 5 depending upon the harbor traffic. Always feel free to message us as you get to Catalina Island for confirmation.
Yes. Your Captain puts in plenty of work before and after your trip to make sure you have the best time possible. The recommended amount is 20% of the trip cost. Cash is appreciated, however more is appreciated when you feel that extra island magic. Cash is appreciated.
You can purchase online at https://wildlife.ca.gov/Licensing/Online-Sales, just remember to print it out and bring it with you! Most sporting goods stores can sell you a license. You can also buy licenses on Catalina Island, only if your charter does not leave before 9:00. The stores on Catalina Island that sell licenses, open at 9:00 am.
This depends on when your charter starts. If you have an early morning charter, being on island the day before is a must. If your charter starts later than 8:00 in the morning, it is a good idea to arrive a little early in case you have trouble finding the dock or need to grab something at the last minute from the store.
The boat moves around, A LOT. If you are prone to sea sickness at all, motion sickness meds are recommended. It is a good idea to take these well before you get on the boat so that they are working before you get on the water.
We are allowed six passengers as per US Coast Guard regulations.
